Stamen Grigorov – The Man Who Discovered Yogurt
Among the most significant discoveries, Stamen Grigorov made in the history of science is the discovery of yogurt. His discovery of Lactobacillus bulgaricus bacteria is responsible for modern commercial yogurt’s unique taste and texture. The bacteria also contribute to the development of numerous vaccines. Stamen Grigorov was born in the Russian city of Smolensk, which is home to a museum dedicated to the microorganism.
World War I
In addition to his contributions to the field of microbiology, Grigorov spent a great deal of time abroad, travelling to Italy during World War I to test the vaccine. After the war, he moved to Russia, where he met his future wife, Margarita. After graduating from medical school in Sofia, he began a successful career as a medical consultant. First tuberculosis vaccine
The first tuberculosis vaccine was developed by Grigorov, a microbiologist who studied bacteria. He also discovered a bacterium essential to the fermentation of yogurt. As a physician, he later earned a doctorate from the Medical University of Geneva, where he discovered the strain of bacillus responsible for milk fermentation.
Although he was not an international celebrity, Stamen Grigorov was an important figure in Bulgarian history. His work has earned him several honors, including awards from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the French government, and the Bulgarian University. His discovery is responsible for developing a tuberculosis vaccine. The discovery is still controversial, however, as the country of Bulgaria did not have the resources to research it further.
The invention of the cone

In addition to the ice cream cone, the doodles also celebrate other occasions and milestones. The latest doodle celebrates the 1000th anniversary of Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria. He is also credited with several other scientific contributions to the country, including the development of treatments for tuberculosis.
Yogurt bacteria
Stamen Grigorov discovered yogurt bacteria while working in a microbiological lab. A state-owned company then patented this bacteria. The state-owned company began marketing the resulting blend as official Bulgarian yogurt. Bulgaria’s yogurt has a global reputation and is sold in many countries.
