How do T-Shirt Printing Options Differ?

T-shirt printing companies offer a variety of printing methods if you want to have your brand’s t-shirts printed. While some companies use only one method, others offer several. It’s important to understand what each option entails so you can make the right choice for you. The purpose of this article is to help you make the right choice when ordering your t-shirts by reviewing the various types of t-shirt printing options.

Screen Printing

The most popular t-shirt printing method is screen printing, also known as silkscreen. In this method, nylon mesh is used to hold the stencil in place, as well as waterproof material to protect the negative spaces on your item.

Through the use of a squeegee, the ink is spread across the screen. In the final step, the screen is removed, and the item is left to dry and cure.

Despite being one of the oldest methods of printing t-shirts, screen printing remains a popular method because it creates long-lasting, vibrant designs.

Direct to Garments (DTG)

Another popular t-shirt printing method is direct-to-garment printing. Rather than loading paper into the printer, you load t-shirts into it. It works like a paper printer in an office.

Computers input the information as a design, which is sent to printers. The printer then lays down the ink after pretreating the shirt. One shirt can be produced using this method. The DTG method picks up small details with a high degree of accuracy, making it an ideal solution for highly detailed artwork.

Heat Press Printing

If you are printing one-off pieces or small batches, heat press printing is an ideal solution. In order to make the designs, transfer paper must be used. A combination of heat and pressure is then used to transfer the designs to the t-shirt.

The most commonly used transfer paper is vinyl. An adhesive material will be attached to one side and a strippable tape will be attached to the other. When the design has been printed out and pressed to the t-shirt, you hold the tape and separate the paper from the design.

Dye Sublimation

Printing large designs across the front or back of a t-shirt using dye sublimation is ideal. The process produces clear, high-resolution results, but it is more expensive than other processes.

Polyester is treated with a special dye that dries and solidifies when it comes into contact with it. The reason you should use polyester tees for dye sublimation is for this reason. Materials other than those listed above will not produce the desired result.

It is made vibrant and long-lasting by sinking dye into the material using heat and pressure. There are a number of printing options available when printing t-shirts. This will ensure that your merchandise looks great. What is the best fit for your needs out of these options?

The screen

The artisans will begin their work as soon as you have submitted your design and are satisfied with the mock-up. Screens are the primary tool we use to create custom silk-screened t-shirts. Although it looks similar to a screen door on a house, the one we use has much smaller holes and is much higher quality.

An emulsion layer is applied over the screen to prevent ink from passing through. The screen is mounted in a wooden frame and covered with emulsion. In the next step, we prepare the screen so that it appears like a reverse negative of your design. Yellow is the color of the screen, but it will have no effect on the design.

Then we do a few internal steps to get everything ready for printing after the screen has been created and your design has been transferred to it. As a result, the process takes much longer than when a t-shirt is digitally printed. The entire process must be done by hand.
